Fall 2016 Women's Outerwear Lookbook - Our YouTube Debut!

Hello everyone!

To those I haven't met yet -let me say an extra special hello! My name Courtney and I am one of the newest members of the team here at Grey Rock Clothing Co. Today I am taking over the blog for a very specific reason - YouTube! Most of you probably don't know, but I am a little YouTube obsessed. I have my own channel called Courtney's Vlog, where I make videos on Green Living, Natural Beauty, Heath, Wellness, and my own life journey.

Ever since I first met Beth and joined the Grey Rock team, I have been bursting with video ideas for the store. So, I am very proud to announce not only the launch of our YouTube Channel, but also our very first video debut!

Beth and I recently put together a Fall 2016 Outerwear Lookbook with some of our favourite pieces for the season, especially now that the weather is starting to get a little cooler. It will help give you some inspiration for how to style and wear clothing that you already own, as well as give you a chance to check out some of the goodies that we currently have in store.

This video is going to be the first of many, and we're hoping that you can give us some ideas on what sort of topics you would like us to cover! What type of videos would you find helpful? Is there anything that you struggle with when putting together an outfit? What type of questions would you love to be able to ask a style consultant, if you could? We are going to try to do a men's and women's video lookbook for each season moving forward and we're also thinking of making some educational videos about the brands that we carry, how to wear certain key pieces, or sharing some info about our team and the amazing city of Guelph.

Let us know which look in the video was your favourite!

Thank you so much for watching and make sure to say hi next time you visit the shop. :)

- Courtney

Spring & Summer Lookbook

You might have noticed we have a bit of a new look to our website. We've been busy working away on adding a selection of the seasonal pieces from our collections to our online store, as well as the basics that we've grown to love and feel you couldn't be without in your wardrobe at any time of the year.

In doing so, we have had the opportunity to work with photographers Connor Young and Nick Link, to compose a lookbook for our re-launch. Inside of a greenhouse somewhere, we transported ourselves to a tropical garden as the backdrop for subtley mixed white and lacey fabrics, a spectrum of blue tank tops, light colored bottoms, and a statement making maxi dress. Creating looks from eleven different pieces and our in-store jewellery table, we put forward a sense of summertime and switching things up.

View our entire Lookbook, or just browse the notes on our favorites below and some blog only looks.

The Kendall Dress  is easily our most summery sundress. It's white, lacey and empire-waisted, making it simple enough for a morning run over to the Farmer's Market and an afternoon in the park or just detailed enough to go to a backyard party. We'd wear it on it's own, with our Classic Blue Jean Jacket and a minimally printed scarf, or a brightly colored open cardigan (especially in this Safari style and green color).

The Lizzy Top is it's tank top version. With a sewn in waistband this top can be worn to road trip or travel by bike in with a braided loop around vegan leather belt and a pair of patterned denim Tess Shorts, while a feminine bright blue bow belt and High Waisted Pearl Grey Ankle Length Jeans make this look a little more jet setting. With the same Safari cardigan as our dress, wearing white on almost white is not just July weather only (or as daunting!), even without a belt. Other bottoms we can see styling this with are our High Rise Indigo Rinse Zipper Ankle Jeans

A blue tank top to pair with lightly colored bottoms is one of those things we knew was missing from our closet but we couldn't quite put our finger on what it was. It's a classic look, but not quite. With one of our summer scarves, handmade in Guatemala, the Bo Top and the Stripe Valley Tank give two variations to what is essentially the same look. Both are styled with a pair of our Tess Shorts, the dressy-casual mixing of the linen fabric and braided belt of the first look and the casual stripes and sophisticated neutral bow belt in the second look, give these two outfits the same completed feel without being too pulled together. For those who prefer a longer style of shirt, the Dassia Top is A-line with a braided neckline leading into a flattering racer back. With our High Waisted Pearl Grey Ankle Length Jeans and a beaded necklace in the same navy hue as the shirt, we'd just add a blazer to make this outfit uncomplicated and professional.
