“Brands, retailers and consumers have all become fantastically adept at divorcing fashion from the very fact that it has been made by an army of living, breathing, human beings with resources which are depleting the environment." - Lucy Siegle
Lucy Siegle, an award-winning journalist focused on ethical consumption discussed this point when talking about the investigative documentary, The True Cost. Directed by the talented Andrew Morgan (After the End, Here and Now), the film takes its audience through the social and environmental consequences of fast fashion. For us at Grey Rock, the film highlights our passion for changing the way consumers view the impact their purchases have on the livelihoods of the people’s lives that are intertwined with the clothing they purchase.
That's why this October 1st at 7pm we are presenting a screening of the film, in conduction with Sweet Temptations Cupcakery.
We’re also using the screening to celebrate our recent B Corp certification. We want to provide an opportunity for our community to become educated on Fast Fashion, and the benefits of shopping Fair-Trade, Organic and B Corp Certified. So come join us!
When: Thursday October 1st, 7pm
Where: The Bookshelf (41 Quebec)
Purchase: At Grey Rock or The Bookshelf.
Mixer and discussion to follow at Grey Rock, with cupcakes provided by Sweet Temptations Cupcakery.
